Security Checkpoint Memo

Dear Members,

On May 1, 2010 an acknowledgement memo was released by Continental Airlines illustrating rules and regulations regarding accessing the sterile area of the airport when traveling. The memo stated such employees must undergo screening at TSA security checkpoints and submit any items intended to be taken aboard the aircraft for screening.

There was however much confusion by our members as to whether or not this memo was applicable to employees, already at work, traveling for company business (i.e.: Field Trips etc.) Ambiguities concerning the letter have been addressed and the Company has conveyed the following understanding to the Union.

The Union strongly suggests that we error on the side of caution:

·    When traveling on a Field Trip tools will be placed in a Fly-Away kit and no longer taken aboard.

·    Regardless of the type of travel, while on-duty, members are strongly suggested to submit any personal items (including overnight bags previously screened and kept at work) intended to be taken aboard the aircraft for screening.

The Company has informed us that a new memo will be issued that clearly illustrates the rules regarding accessing the sterile area of the airport when traveling. Should you have any questions feel free to contact the Union office.

In Solidarity,
