Teamsters Aviation Mechanics Coalition (TAMC) 03-02-12

Who we are:

• TAMC was formed 5 years ago to focus specifically on the interests of

Teamster Airline Mechanics.

• TAMC represents 18,000 mechanics at 11 airlines making it the largest and most

potent force serving the collective interests of Airline Mechanics.

• TAMC works to promote safety and expose outsourcing risk by engaging the

media and key stakeholders in Washington (FAA & Congress) and provide

combined experience for contract negotiations.

What we do:

• Organized the first Aircraft MX outsourcing summit.

• Successfully lobbied Congress to include language in the FAA Reauthorization

Bill to include single standard of safety with more frequent FAA visits

of Foreign Repair Stations as well as criminal background checks at those

Repair Stations.

• Testified before the Homeland Security Sub Committee on Transportation

Security conditions at the Aeroman facility.

• Waged public relations campaign on airline safety and security resulting in

PBS Frontline story “Flying Cheaper”.

• Leverage our relationship with the TWU to promote our common interests in

Outsourcing, FAA legislation, FAA rule making, organizing the MROs. This

relationship gives us a combined voice of over 30,000 aviation maintenance

professionals.

• Launched the License Protection Program which provides free legal counsel

for all Airline Division Mechanics being investigated by the FAA or NTSB.

• Gained two seats at the Aviation Maintenance Fatigue Study which will lead

to being part of the FAA rule making committee.

• Created the Teamster Outsourcing Defect Report, (TODR) to capture

substandard work being performed by the MRO’s.
