Dear Members,
As a result of Hurricane Sandy and its effect on the East coast the Company has changed its’ declaration from Adverse Conditions, “Facility Open” to Adverse Conditions as follows:
- Facility Open – Saturday October 27th through Monday October 29th until 2130
- Facility Closed – Monday October 29th from 2130 through Wednesday October 31st until 0500
- Facility Open – Wednesday October 31st from 0500 through Thursday November 1st until 2359
The Company will continue to monitor the situation based on local conditions.
All information regarding an employee’s rights as they relate to Adverse Conditions may be found in Article 7.J in both the sUAL and sCAL Collective Bargaining Agreements.
Once again we wish all our members and their family’s well. I have visited with some of the Work Areas and have spoken to members who have lost quite a bit. Our prayers and thoughts will remain with them as they work through these tough times.
I have requested a meeting with the Company to discuss ways in which the Company and the Union can help our members who have been affected by this unfortunate event. The Company has already extended its “We Care” program and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters will be sending out information pertaining to its’ “Disaster Relief Fund” program.
