Dear Members,
Many of you have voiced your concerns regarding recent company postings and comments threatening disciplinary action towards Technicians who, while accurately recording discrepancies when performing maintenance on company aircraft, are being portrayed as engaging in an illegal job action.
In order to ensure that all Technicians have no uneasiness or misgivings when performing any type of maintenance a “Discrepancy Document” form has been created. The technician can utilize this form before writing up a discrepancy. After the discrepancy is found bring this form to management and ask them to sign.
In the event management refuses to sign the form please get a witness (Shop Steward or another member) and record the refusal on the spaces provided on the form. Be sure to include the manager’s name, signature of witness, date and time of refusal.
The unavailability of management personnel or their refusal to sign is not a valid reason for delaying or neglecting your job responsibilities.
This form is not intended nor should it be construed as a means to increase the amount of write – ups or be used as a vehicle that would adversely affect Continental Airlines or violate the Collective Bargaining Agreement and/or Railway Labor Act.
This form is exclusively intended to involve management prior to a discrepancy being recorded.
All completed forms must be collected and sent to the Local Union office.
