Negotiations Update
Last week negotiations continued in Chicago. The parties focused on developing comprehensive economic proposals. While no proposals were exchanged during this session it is expected that the parties will begin exchanging proposals the week of April 22nd in Phoenix. Negotiations will move back to Chicago the week of the 29th.
The union committee was assisted this week by our economist Dan Akins. Dan is focused on ensuring the committee has the most up to date accurate information possible to develop the economic proposal. In addition Gaelle Gravot an actuary from Cheiron presented the committee with information about health and welfare plans. The committee is exploring all options in the area of health and welfare plans at this point in order to present the best possible plan as part of the economic opener.
In addition to work being done on the economic items several the committees continued work on wrapping up a few outstanding language items.
Seniority Integration
The rank and file seniority integration committee will meet the week of April 22nd in Phoenix. The committee will work towards finalizing the amalgamated list ahead of the negotiating committee reaching an amalgamated tentative agreement. It is expected that the final list will be available for review by the membership soon.
Furloughed members urged to update their addresses
Members on furlough are advised to keep their addresses current with the company while on layoff. It is predicted that there will be many movements this year and there have been several members that have been removed from the seniority list because old addresses were on file when notices were sent.
If you are in touch with a furloughed member, please forward this information to them. Updates may be emailed to: [email protected] . The ESC will provide a fax number and ask members to send the address change accompanied with a signature.
