April 1, 2009 Update

The Negotiating Committee met with the Company in Houston on March 30, 31 and April 1 to continue working toward a tentative agreement.

Article 2- Definitions. The issue that remains open in this Article is the administration and content of the trade tests. The contents of the trade tests were reviewed. The subcommittee will schedule a meeting with the company in an attempt to agree to the administration and content of the current trade tests. The subcommittee will report it's progress to the Negotiating Committee.

Proposals were exchanged on Article 6-Reduction in Force. The Company provided proposals for Article 3-Covered Crafts, Classifications, Qualifications, and Bid Areas, Article 5-Filling of Vacancies, Article 7-Hours of Service. After the Company answered questions concerning Article 3, the Union prepared a counter proposal which we will give the company at out next meeting. The Company also responded to the Unions opening proposals on Article 8-Holidays, Article 9-Vacation, Article 10-Leaves of Absence and Article 11-Sick Leave and occupational Injury. At the Union's request the Company will provide proposals on Article 12-Field Trips, Article 13-Training, Article 14-Safety and Health and Article 18-Union Security and Representation. All of thew previous Articles remain open.

We will meet once again with the Company on April 28, 29, and 30th. The Location will be away from Houston, but has not been finalized.

Negotiation Committee Members: Chris Carouthers , Robert Clever , Dominick DiPaolo, Tommy Esposito, Vinny Graziano, Jack Harran, Craig Larson, Carl Leverson , Mike Meglich, Ralph Salzano, Audrey Scates and Shawn Vernon.
