ASA / XJT Stock Clerk Update 

Negotiations for a combined ASA/XJT Stock Clerk contract resumed this week in Atlanta. The Union made passes on Section 7 (Hours of Service) and Section 22 (General and Miscellaneous), and the Company made a pass on Section 22 and Section 7. The parties were unable to reach a TA (Tentative Agreement) on any Sections this week. 

To date for the combined ASA/XJT Stock Clerk contract, Tentative Agreements have been reached on Section 3 (Classifications), 4 (Seniority), 5 (Filling of Vacancies), 6 (Reduction in Force and Recall), 12 (Field Trips), 13 (Training), 14 (Health and Safety), 16 (Moving Expenses), 19 (Union Security and Representation), 20 (Grievance Procedure) and 21 (Board of Arbitration). 

The union is working to schedule additional meetings with the Company for the beginning of the New Year. No dates have been announced yet.

Governmental and Regulatory 

The U.S. Department of Transportation release of its Air Travel Consumer report failed to clearly note the significant effect the fire at a Chicago-area ATC control center had on airline operational performance results.

Airlines, Industry and Labor 

United Airlines is looking at purchasing Embraer E-Jets and/or Bombardier CSeries narrow-body jets. The jets will replace United's fleet of 50-seat regional jets.  

Boeing has started to plan a new aircraft to replace the 737 Max, said CEO Jim McNerney. "By 2030, we will have a new airplane," he said. McNerney added that the airplane will likely be larger than the Max and be a composite aircraft with new engines.
