As you all know by now the Teamsters won a historic election and now represent the Fleet Service Workers at Continental Airlines (CAL). Since the victory Local 210 has been required to do some organizational and administrative transitioning that will best serve its’ members.
Mr. Gabriel Guzman will be the Business Agent representing the Fleet Service Workers, along with Mr. Robert Luciano. Bob has been selected for his many years of experience and knowledge as a Business Agent in the aviation industry and will help aid with the progression towards the Fleet Service Workers first Collective Bargaining Agreement. As part of the transition, I am pleased to officially announce I have accepted the position of Business Agent for Local 210. I will be responsible for representing Mechanic and Related at Continental, United and Piedmont Airlines.
Mr. Vincent Graziano will remain a vital part of the organization and continue as a full time Assistant Business Agent for Local 210 representing Continental Airline Mechanic and Related.
The vacancy which was once held by me will not be occupied as an Assistant Business Agent, but will be an appointment by representatives of the Local Union based upon general criteria as listed below:
· Fluent with the interpretation and understanding of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
· Experienced and proficient in the Grievance Procedure such as filing, preparation and presentation, investigation of precedent setting cases, witness preparation and written appeals.
· Be available on short notice to travel for Boards/Arbitrations when requested or to attend political rallies and events on days-off when the membership and/or Local have the need for support.
As we explore all options deemed beneficial for the membership and union a decision will be made shortly.
