Dear Members,
The negotiating committee met in Philadelphia, PA this week. Mediator Gerry McGuckin headed the mediation, assisted the group in wrapping up the Articles listed below and requested that the parties put a bullet point sheet together enumerating the open economic items.
The negotiating committee and the company worked on and TA’d the few open issues in Article 4 – Seniority and Article 10 – Leaves of Absence (benefit eligibility pertaining to certain Leaves).
Your committee proposed a package addressing the open economic items in Article 7 – Hours of Service, Article 8 – Holidays, Article 9 – Vacations and Article 11 – Sick Leave. The company briefly reviewed and cost out the economic impact of the proposal. They will be performing an in-depth review and analysis while our committee will meet with the Union’s economist, Norm Weintraub to cross analyze and verify the company’s costing of our economic proposal.
During the week of negotiations the company responded to the Union’s comprehensive proposal that was given on June 23_2010 regarding
Article 16 – Benefits. After detailed review of the company’s proposal, it failed to meet the Union’s expectations.
The negotiating committee will be meeting July 26 -July 28 to formulate
economic responses and will meet with economist Norm Weintraub on August 4th through the 6th in Houston to prepare the proposals to be presented and discussed with the company at the next session.
